Creating a Small Online Business in Education.

Creating a small online business in the field of education is interesting and definetly a learning curve and perhaps also a labor of love.  In the education field, so much is public yet there is also so much to be desired.  Private schools are the alternative to public schools which are generally available to any student who can afford them although each private school or private education service is typically privately owned and tailored for a niche audience, so they really might not be for everyone.  The division isn't simply just a matter of wealthy or poor but many other cultural factors are often at play in the private school or services realm.  Cultural variables to consider are religion, language, country of origin (ethnicity) or even philosophy which can sometimes appear to be like a religion- for instance, often being vegetarian is a philosophy but this is even not always 100% of the time.

In public schools, schools are designed to be for everyone but this is quite simply very difficult to accomplish in many areas due to both the range of diversity of pupils and the experience levels and attitudes of the educators and administrators themselves.  I have experienced that identifying or understanding these important differences are frequently underscored or gloss overed and pupils are singled out or even used as examples of diversity.  I would argue that when these factors are ignored it makes the environment for learning ineffective and lends to an atmosphere of disengagement.  I commend and very much appreciate public schools and the educators who spend big parts of their life there but in truth, not every school is going to be successful.  Although I do appreciate, admire and feel indebted to the public school system, I refuse to be limited as a professional.  In this way, I see I am doing my part to actually improve the system by doing something creative.  Not all parents, families or students are satisfied with public school yet they still need quality options and I feel suited and qualified to provide this service as not only an alternative but even a bridge.

I have a set of values which will most definetly impact the way I live, do business, and interact with others.  My values are aligned with my religious background (Judeo-Christian), my language, my privilege to be born an American, my education, and even my ethnicity (heritage primarily from Europe) not to mention my gender (female), the fact I am a mother to five children, and even my own life experiences and opinions which make me unique.

At any rate, finding my niche audience and spreading the word is the goal.  I know I have students and families out there who will be using my services not just because they have some kind of dissatisfaction but because they want to grow and not be hindered; my audience is people who want to help themselves and help others; my audience are both individuals and families, students and teachers, who are rising to a higher calling in life and who understand and appreciate the importance of social studies in this digital world.

Thank you for reading, there will be more to come!

Best,
