Reflection and Purpose

Outside my home office my child who is now ten is dropped off by her bus.  I am so fortunate to have her be able to ride a bus to and from school and be picked up and dropped up right in front of my house.  Not all students in my district have a bus driver and literally this has been the saving grace to allow me to work from home and have my student attend fifth grade.  A year and a half ago, my youngest was just a newborn and that made five kids.  At the time, I didn't have a working car and it took eight months before it was fixed.  My family and I relied on public transportation, rides from family and friends, and delivery services through out the pandemic in 2020.  In my world, lockdown was nearly a year.  I gave up searching for mechanics until one day a neighbor let me know there was a mechanic on our street.  I decided to give the mechanic a dial and for less than $300.00 my car was fixed when I thought it was just another junker.  What is better- it still works today!  And what is better than that- my husband now has a mechanic friend!

Since this is my first blog post on this blog I want to introduce myself.  My name is Satori, I am a mother to five children and ever since I was a small girl, I always wanted to be a mom.  I was the little girl with lots of baby dolls and stuffed animals- many of them moms and babies.  While growing up, telling people I wanted to grow up to be a mom got me a lot of frowns and well meaning people trying to dissuade me.  Thankfully, I didn't internalize that kind of negativity too much because it wasn't hard for me to see that babies are blessings!  Being a mother feels like I am fulfilling not only a sacred duty, but my destiny or my dharma.

Although being a mother is my blessing, there are other important responsibilities in life that I feel I have been called to do.  To find that sweet balance where I can nurture my blessings and share my expertise and gifts is where my purpose leads me at this time.  In other words, sharing my expertise and gifts requires developing myself as a self employed business owner in the online education tutoring and consulting world while balancing motherhood and everything else.

Welcome to my education blog, I do appreciate you so much and hope this blog inspires you to learn more, to grow, and share your gifts! Thank you!

Yours truly,

Satori West
